So after seeing Michael this morning I went to the bank. They were not open yet. I went and had café con leche and a croissant and watched the Spanish women's team win a match in something that looked like soccer except the ball was thrown instead of kicked. I went back to the bank and did my transaction and hurried over to the doctor's office. I had thirty minutes between the time the bank opened and my appointment.
The good or at least hopeful news is that my knee is not broken and with a few days rest I should be able to continue. She believes the blister on my right heal caused me to step off center causing repeated stress on the tendons and muscles. So it is important that I get the blister healed and rest my knee. She said I didn't need anti inflammatories or a brace, just rest and ice (or frozen vegetables.)
I went to the Hostal that Lucas had told me about and it is quite nice, complete with wifi and a television where I am currently watching the Olympics. All this for 16€ a night. So I've rented my bunk until Monday which will allow my knee three full days of rest and also allow my blister four full days of healing. My challenge is to sit still and not go wandering around. This is especially important because to heal my blister the doctor said I need to wear open shoes, my flip flops, which are not the best for knee stability. So I'm going to keep my butt planted as much as possible.
I just met a fellow named Paul from Wales. He is going home. He says he has had enough. He is not injured, but he can't take the hot weather. I have heard a lot of folks talk about the hot weather, mostly folks from the British Isles and Northern Europe. The Spaniards, Italians, etc don't seem to be bothered by it. Me, I haven't hardly noticed it. But I love heat. I think my last incarnation was as a lizard. Hehehe
I just found out that this Hostal has only been open for a couple of weeks. That's why there are only a few people here and everything is so nice. Aren't I lucky that I found it for my rest stop. Just had dinner and I'm watching the Olympics. Danielle rocks!!!
